Working Together To Honor Those That Died
On May 29, 2010, the Moose Lodge of Yarmouth, Massachusetts in conjunction with the local Moose Lodge brought their Moving Wall to South Weymouth.
The Moving Wall was constructed by members of that lodge in honor of those men and women that have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country, in America's most recent conflicts around the world. The event was staged at Shea Memorial Grove located within the Southfield property. Shea Grove is a small parcel of land that has been set aside in honor of those that served at the former Naval Air Station located there, as well as all the Medal Of Honor recipients from Norfolk and Plymouth counties. The property is cared for by members of the Patriot Squadron that was at one time associated with the Air Station.
Working together, the Patriot Squadron, Moose Lodge and the American Legion represented by George Bean Post 79 and the Morrisette Post from Quincy set up a grand display featuring the Moving Wall and the Bean Post's statues symbolizing each branch of the United States Armed Forces. A contigent of motorcycles also attended to hear Weymouth's Mayor Sue Kay and Veteran's Agent Frank Burke speak on behalf of the fallen heroes.
